I own a “Jim’s Diggers” Franchise [ Jim’s Diggers Badgerys Creek ] and I am over 58-years old, so my job is as physically demanding as it is mentally. I have had some experience with different styles of Kung Fu over the years, but I was drawn to Yang Mian Sydney because I wanted to learn a truly internal martial arts system.
I quickly discovered that as I trained, my body began to change from the inside out. I started to become more mentally and physically resilient; it would take longer for me to physically fatigue when I was working “on the tools” and I was able to better cope with, and balance, the stress of running my own business whilst maintaining quality time with my family.
Sifu Jason has shown patience and understanding with my training. Always open to me asking questions and talking about the system, so I have a better understanding of what I am doing. When I first started training, I struggled to lift my left arm above my head, to bring my shoulder close to my ear. In less than 9-months I can now easily do this, and I continue to gain greater flexibility each week. I see there are no short cuts in this system, and that with commitment to myself, I will progress to a higher level of skill and understanding.

I have continued training now for almost 18-months, which is longer than I have ever committed to any other activity before.

One of the biggest hurdles I have overcome is my previous drug use. I am over 50 years’ old with a background in various training including Boxing, Taekwondo, and Wing Chung Kung Fu. I work as a professional “Carer” which is both physically and emotionally demanding; requiring me to be highly organised, focused, and constantly aware of the individual needs of my many clients.
I originally wanted to learn Yang Mian Kung Fu for its martial arts application, but I soon realised there is a huge focus on your personal health and wellbeing. Sifu Jason always says:

I am a 54-year-old Diesel Mechanic in the Western Australian mines, meaning I work in a highly physically demanding job. Over the years I have been involved in different types of martial arts such as Choy Le Fut and Wing Chung Kung Fu, Muay Thai, and some Karate, for self-defence and fitness. Around 10 years ago I began studying Yang Mian Kung Fu, but was unable to continue training as I moved away for work.
When I found Sifu Jason a couple of years ago, I immediately wanted to re-commence my Yang Mian training. I have done some in-person lessons with Sifu Jason in Sydney, but I do most of my lessons via Yang Mian Sydney’s online School, which works for me, given I live on the other side of the country.
Since re-commencing my Yang Mian training, my mental and physical health has improved, along with my physical fitness. During my long hours of shift work, I find I can easily remain focused on my tasks at hand, without fatiguing. I also have a pre-existing injury that left me with extremely limited movement in my arm and shoulder. Sifu Jason worked with me to rehabilitate this injury, where I now have the greatest range of use & motion in my arm and shoulder since sustaining the injury. This continues to improve daily with my training.

My name is Hannah, from New England, USA. I have a background in weightlifting and fitness. I am an instructor in Kyokushin Karate with my husband, assisting him teaching women’s self-defence, health & fitness programs to adults and seniors. I have been training bi-weekly with Sifu Jason through Yang Mian Sydney’s online School, since August 2024.
Sifu Jason gives clear, concise instructions that are easy to understand and more importantly, remembered during my personal practice. He is encouraging and understands that I have specific physical limitations, which I have been improving since training. He has a wealth of knowledge and years of personal experience, which speaks volumes; he “walks the talk,” so to speak and can support his knowledge with decades of practical experience.
I personally like that the Yang Mian system does not involve any legacy spiritual practices. The founders of the system took extensive time removing anything that wasn’t needed to be an effective fighting art. However, there are also a multitude of health benefits, from physical to mental, emotional, and self-protection through realistic self-defense, if needed.
The training is really fun to do! I feel confident in practicing the different elbow techniques, through-hand, and punches because Sifu has given me effective tips on ways to remember the training. As of right now, I go over the basics at least 3 times a week, which takes about 20–30 minutes on my own. So, you get a good workout, you feel healthy and strong, and with consistent, proper practice, you see and feel positive results through body alignment, intent, and connecting your body with the movements.
I am really looking forward to progressing in the training and where this will take me overall. If you do not live in Sydney, Australia, then the online training school is an amazing and worthwhile alternative. I highly recommend working with Sifu Jason and Yang Mian Sydney.

My name is Michael, from New England, USA. I am a Sensei in Kyokushin Karate, a martial art “strongman performer,” and I teach women’s self-defence, health & fitness programs to adults and seniors. I reached out to Sifu Jason back in August 2024, through Yang Mian Sydney’s online School, because he is a highly skilled teacher, and I wanted to specifically learn Yang Mian Steel Hand and Steel Body.
It’s been extremely exciting to learn such an authentic art! Sifu Jason teaches in a very systematic way, taking you step by step through your training, to achieve your individual goals and needs. Although I sought Sifu Jason out to learn martial art training and conditioning, I’ve noticed that my overall health has increased, in particular my joint pain is healing and lessening, I’ve experienced healthy weight loss, plus increases in muscle tone, strength, endurance, and increased cardiovascular health.
I really can’t say enough about Sifu Jason’s online courses! It is the way to go if you don’t live in Sydney, Australia and cannot attend in-person lessons.
